While Ontario is not the largest province in the country it takes three days to get across.
Your question of the day is...if it is not the largest which provinces are larger (yup there are more than one...)...answers tomorrow
Thursday we travelled through what we considered to be the most spectacular scenery of Ontario.
The Trans Canada highway literally cuts through some incredible rock faces. It is interesting to drive right through what used to be sheer rock.
The elevation changes quite drastically as well...one minute you are going head first and the next, it is a long climb up. There have been a surprising number of cyclists on these hills. Pauline looks longingly at them while I am happy to sit behind the wheel and push the accelerator. One lone cyclist was heading east with a Newfoundland flag flying from the back of her bike. I'd be guessing but I suspect they are fulfilling some sort of Canada 150 project, as we are...
Yesterday (Friday) the scenery was somewhat less spectacular...
We stopped in Thunder Bay at the Terry Fox memorial...it is a fitting tribute to a National Hero and surprisingly emotional.
We are staying in a campground about half an hour outside of Winnipeg tonight and in keeping with tradition we actually found a pizza joint and had our usual bottle of Champagne. All is good!
